Myspace vs. Facebook
I. THESIS:
Myspace and Facebook are very popular social networking websites. They are similar in many ways and both have millions of registered users. They both offer an assortment of interactive features. However they are very different in several ways; from the number of features each offer and how they offer them, to the type of user they attract. In this essay I will discuss both websites in detail by comparing them on their Features, Site Layout/Design and the number of Users these site attract.
II. USERS
a. Myspace: is home to 2.2 million bands, 8,000 comedians, thousands of filmmakers, and millions of striving, attention-starved members over 100 million (Sellers). Site users do not need to be logged in order to use some of the sites features.
b. FaceBook: has over 9.3 million users’ (Kornblum). Facebook is made up of a lot of separate networks like schools (colleges and High schools), companies, and regions. Facebook is more exclusive than Myspace. Users must login in order to use any site features.
III. FEATURES
a. Myspace: offers an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music, internal search engine, internal e-mail system and videos. new features have been gradually added, and made available to all Myspace users.
b. Facebook: offers an interactive, pre established network of schools, companies, and regions. Personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, internal search engine, an internal e-mail system.
IV. SITE LAYOUT/DESIGN
a. Myspace: Blue theme pleasing to the eye, organized and not to flashy or busy, home page is dynamic (content changes every time you refresh the page or revisit the site) Navigational menu always at the top of every web page, easy to get around site. Site visitors do not have to log in or have an account in order to use Myspace. Advertisements on every page, but the home page, Top, Right and Left of web pages. Not Annoying or disruptive.
b. Facebook: users must log in before they can use any of the sites features. The sites Blue grey theme is easy on the eyes and the site design and layout is more neater and distinct than Facebook’s. The navigational element is placed vertically on the left side of every page and the site is fuss free and easy to use.
V. CONCLUSION:
Myspace and Facebook are very much alike. Millions of people use them to socialize on the internet. They are both popular because they both offer unique features that people like. Moreover their appearance and navigational controls are pleasing to the eye and are easy to use; they differ most in features that they offer, and user accessibility. Even so, neither Website seems likely to lose popularity any time soon.

Review of Article :
